About Biomechanics

The study of the movement and or acceleration of the human body through space.

Biomechanics is grounded in Newtonian physics.  In the field of crash biomechanics, the occupant kinematics can be accurately predicted using the principle direction of force (PDOF), while applying Newton’s three laws. Occupant injury should be analyzed based on the known tissue response resulting from the kinematics of the collision. No one injury threshold exists for all humankind. Each case must be individually analyzed while applying collision and human risk factors.
